Ettore Sottsass (1917–2007) was an Italian architect and designer of Austrian origin, founder of the Memphis Group in 1981 and one of the most influential figures of postmodern design. He led the design office of Olivetti for over three decades and designed objects, interiors and architecture across Europe, the United States and Japan.For Artemide he designed the Callimaco floor lamp in 1982, an icon of Italian post-modernism now in the Twentieth Century Design Collection of the Metropolitan Museum of New York.
