Eero Aarnio is a Finnish designer born in Helsinki in 1932, founder of his independent studio in 1962. He pioneered the use of plastics in furniture in the 1960s with the Ball Chair (1963), the Pastil (1967) and the Bubble Chair (1968) — pieces now in the permanent collections of MoMA New York and the Vitra Design Museum.

Magis is the Italian furniture brand founded in 1976 in Motta di Livenza, Veneto, by Eugenio Perazza, recognised internationally as a benchmark of contemporary industrial design and known for collaborations with Konstantin Grcic, Jasper Morrison, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Marcel Wanders, Jaime Hayón and Stefano Giovannoni.

The brand pioneered new uses of injection-moulded plastics, rotational moulding and aluminium die-casting in design furniture, producing icons including the Air Chair by Jasper Morrison, the Chair_One and Brut series by Konstantin Grcic, and the Bombo stool by Stefano Giovannoni. Magis also operates Me Too, a dedicated children's collection. Production is centred in north-east Italy.
