Anna Castelli Ferrieri
Anna Castelli Ferrieri (1918–2006) was an Italian architect and designer born in Milan, co-founder of Kartell with her husband Giulio Castelli in 1949 and the brand's first art director. Trained at the Politecnico di Milano, she pioneered the use of injection-moulded plastics in design furniture from the 1960s onwards.
Her Componibili modular storage unit (1969) for Kartell, conceived as a stackable cylindrical container, has been in continuous production for over five decades and is in the permanent collection of MoMA. The 3D Model Unity catalog includes high-precision NURBS 3D models of Anna Castelli Ferrieri pieces for Kartell, available for Rhinoceros 3D.

The brand brought industrial polymers into residential design with iconic products including the Componibili modular storage by Anna Castelli Ferrieri (1969), the Bourgie lamp by Ferruccio Laviani (2004), the Louis Ghost chair by Philippe Starck (2002) and the entire family of transparent polycarbonate seating that defined contemporary Italian interiors.
