Mario Botta is a Swiss architect born in Mendrisio in 1943, founder of his architectural studio in Lugano in 1970. After early collaborations with Le Corbusier and Louis Kahn, he developed a distinctive language of geometric monumentality across museums, libraries, residential and ecclesiastical architecture.

His architectural projects include the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Cathedral of the Resurrection in Évry.
