Maarten van Severen

Maarten van Severen (1956–2005) was a Belgian furniture designer based in Ghent, recognised as one of the most influential European modernist designers of his generation. He developed a rigorous, reductive design language across furniture, working closely with Vitra, Edra, Pastoe and Kartell.His .03 chair (1998) for Vitra and his pieces for Kartell are characterised by extreme essentialism in form and material.
